With the most recent decision of the Rector of the University of Warsaw, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, it has been declared that May 8th will be a Day of Mourning, with no classes nor work at the University of Warsaw. 

A great tragedy has struck our community, as our colleague, an employee of the University of Warsaw was murdered in a bestial manner at the Main Campus. A security employee was seriously injured when he tried to intervene. The perpetrator has been apprehended.

We are truly shaken by the brutal attack that happened today. We would like to express our great grief and sympathy to the family and loved ones of the victims.

Let the day of mourning be a time for us all to reflect on the acts of violence and aggression occurring in the academic space.
