Spring Lectures at Faculty of Physics UW
Students of nuclear power and nuclear reactor physics majors at UW had the opportunity to participate in subsequent courses led by lecturers from KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School (KINGS), organized through the Nuclear Collaboration Center at the Faculty of Physics UW.
On April 23-29, Prof. Kang-wook Cho led the course "Net-zero Technology and Power Grid Transformation", which was devoted to various technologies enabling the achievement of net zero emissions, as well as methods for assessing and analyzing energy systems. Professor discussed the technical aspects of implementing net-zero technology, taking into account the perspectives of network operators and renewable energy developers. Students gained both qualitative and quantitative tools for analyzing energy systems, taking into account engineering and economic aspects.
On May 21-27, Professor Han-young Yoon led the course "Introduction to Advanced Thermohydraulic Simulation in Nuclear Reactors", during which participants learned discretization methods and solving equations used in thermohydraulic codes. During the course, they also acquired practical skills in numerical methods by developing pilot codes for selected conceptual problems.
Materials from the mentioned classes are available to students after entering the password on dedicated websites of each lecture.
