Cost overruns and delays in Nuclear New Build (NNB) are not inevitable, but they are common when lessons from previous projects, advanced technologies, and workforce planning are not integrated into one coherent strategy. Effective NNB projects use past construction experience, proven technology, and a carefully phased workforce plan to improve schedule and cost performance, but there is no single universal project management or business model because each country and project has different regulatory, financial, and contractual conditions.
A more efficient global nuclear supply chain depends on clear long‑term policy signals, harmonized standards, transparent supplier qualification, and early coordination among vendors, constructors, and operators so that the right components and skilled people are available at the right time.
Previous description of this lecture was as follows:
The sixth lecture will focus on practical problems related to constructing a new Nuclear Power Plant.
- Are cost overruns and construction delays inevitable features of Nuclear New Build (NNB)?
- Is there single model for Project management or Business model in NNB?
- What are the conditions for more efficient global nuclear supply chain for NNB?
